About the show
Centered around the lives of NRIs settled in London, Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand weaves together the emotions and drama in the family of Pritam Singh, his children and grandchildren. Pritam Singh has been living in the UK for over 50 years. But his heart yearns for the sights and sounds of his country, his heart and soul lie there.
The serial centers around Parminder - affectionately called Pammi - who lives in London with her family. Deeply moored in family values and traditions, Pammi experiences love when she meets Dev in Chandigarh, during her cousin’s wedding.
But Pammi is engaged to Rohan, a doctor based in London.

Characters
Pritam Singh (Bauji)
The patriarch of the family, Pritam Singh goes to the UK in the ’40s to eke out a living. He settles down there and through grit and determination, builds up his restaurant empire. He secretly yearns for the sights and sounds of his motherland and nurtures dreams of returning to India.
Sukhwant (Beeji)
Beeji marries Bauji at a young age and helps him nurture his dreams. Sukhi, as he calls her, is his pillar of support and derives her strength from him.
Rajindar (Jindar)
Beeji and Bauji oldest son grows up in the Britain of the ’60s and takes up the reins of his father’s empire. He is married to Teiji. They have three children. But Jindar conceals a secret that nobody knows - not even Teiji.
Teiji
Teiji is a woman of high morals and her values are deeply entrenched in Indian convention. Battling all odds, she raises her children to be true-blue Indians. Later in life, she realises that she is fighting a losing battle.
Pammi
The oldest daughter of Teiji and Jindar, Pammi is the protagonist of Des… and a girl typically Indian in her outlook. She is engaged to Dr Rohan and is content with her family’s choice… till Dev enters her life and sweeps her off her feet.
Rohan
Pammi’s fiancé is a doctor by profession. Orphaned when in his teens, Rohan has been taken in by Pritam Singh. He is passionately in love with Pammi until he discovers that her heart is given to someone else.
Dev
This middle-class boy from Chandigarh meets Pammi at a wedding. For him, it’s love at first sight, a state of mind from which he never recovers. Dev follows Pammi to London and only returns when Rohan promises him that he will get Pammi.
Samarjit (Sam)
Sam is confused about his Indian values and his upbringing. He doesn’t know whether to follow Indian tradition or to give in to Western influence. This confusion is deeply reflected in his relationship with Sonam, his girlfriend.
Amrita (Dingy)
The youngest member of the family, Amrita is an aspiring photographer who changes her muse on a day-to-day basis. She is infatuated with a widower, whose son is, ironically, her own age.
