Tara Arora (Played by Chandana Sharma): Rich and spoilt! She is stubborn and demanding by nature. Most of the times she can’t judge what is right and what is wrong for her. She is fun loving, fearless and good at heart! She never allows anybody to dominate her.
She has never seen the darker side of life and easily trusts the people around her. She is someone who can’t sleep without her teddy bear if she sees a horror movie. She sobs every time she sees the climax of Kal ho na ho. Mini and Kamini (her two friends) admire her. She is passionate about two things- sweets and… Shahrukh Khan! She believes that he will marry her the moment he spots her and even runs away from home to meet SRK.
Jagmohan Arora (Played by Avtaar Gill): Tara’s father. Once a juicewallah, now a rich builder through illegal means but still wants social acceptance. He wants his daughter married to the Oberois, who have social status but no money. He loves his daughter but has no clue as to what she wants in life. But all he is sure of is that she will be happy with Ashish Oberoi!
Shashi Arora (Played by Supriya Karnik): Tara’s mother and Jagmohan’s second wife. Self-centred, selfish and money-minded she married Jagmohan for his property. She knows how to manipulate people and uses her sex appeal to get the things done. Knowing that Tara is dear to Jagmohan, she makes full use of this!
Akshay Arora (Played by Baba Sehgal): Eldest son of Jagmohan who helps in the family business. He is an attention seeker. Very loud by nature but is neither sharp nor intelligent. He is jealous of Rahul (his younger brother) who gets all the love and affection of Jagmohan.
Rahul Arora (Played by Kushal Punjabi): The younger son of Jagmohan. Sharp, intelligent, foreign returned… everything about him has got ‘class’. He works for a big industrial house and has his own separate identity. He speaks less but when he does, he talks substance. He loves his father and wants him to quit the shady business. He has a warm relationship with Tara and his girlfriend Mitali, whom he met in London.
Mitali (Rahul’s girl friend): Mitali is the daughter of an ex-politician turned businessman. She loves Rahul for his honesty and his charming personality. She doesn’t want him to be a part of Jagmohan’s family as she knows about his father!
Subedar Balwant Singh (Veer’s father): An ex-army man, he wanted his sons, Veer and Paramjeet to be in the army but none of them got through. Paramjeet is hardworking and honest while Veer’s personality stands in stark contrast to him. Subedar tries hard to put some discipline in Veer’s life but never succeeds. The kitchen of the Subedaars is ruled by his younger sister Manjeet who is a widow. Subedaar also has a tenant called Billo. Seems like he was supposed to marry her some 30 years back, but couldn’t. He still cares a lot for Billo and the old spinster is very much a part of their family. Subedar has his own car garage which he loves like his wife.
Veer Pratap Singh (played by Amit Khanna): Veer is the younger son of Subedar. He is an irresponsible and a lovable rogue. A fun loving guy, he is a big prankster who doesn’t believe in working hard for a living. A daydreamer who dreams of becoming big someday but doesn’t want to work hard for it. He spends most of his time either playing football in the muddy grounds or playing guitar. His father hates his laid-back attitude and is sick and tired of repeatedly scolding him. He has even stopped giving reference of bade bhaiyaa Paramjeet. In short, Veer is like Aamir in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar- headstrong yet caring.
Paramjeet Singh (elder brother of Veer): He stands in stark contrast to his irresponsible younger brother. His father depends on him but he is also aware that his father loves Veer more than him.
Billo (played by Neelu Kohli): Bilo is the family friend of Subedar who comes for help always when the family is in problem. Once upon a time, she was in love with Subedar but now she is just a family friend. A nice cute middle-aged punjabi lady, the kaali choti and laal parandaa type. She has an amazing sense of humour and speaks to Balwant in a unique style.
Manjeet Bebe (Subedar’s sister): Manjeet is Subedaar’s widowed sister and Billo’s best friend. Together they are a riot, absolutely unstoppable. Manjeet reminds you of a Punjaabi aunty who is absolutely desi in thoughts and attire.
Neha (Bua’s orphan neighbour): Neha is an orphan and a nice sweet girl who is in love with Veer. But has never revealed her true feelings. She is simple girl and her personality stands in stark contrast to Tara.
Ranjit Oberoi (Ashish’s father): Though financially broke, he still has his family pride intact. His family was one of the most respected families in the town but has fallen into bad days. He is getting his son married to Tara only because Jagmohan is filthy rich. He is cautious about his reputation in the society and dominates his son and wife.
Laxmi Oberoi (Ashish’s mother): Laxmi is an elitist by nature. She is extremely class conscious and never likes to get associated with low class people. She is one who is more interested in socializing, partying and constantly to be seen on page 3. She is flashy and fakes a lot of things and not just that smile. She loves to gossip, but with her classy friend circle. She likes to show how perfect she is as a mother and a wife and in that bid she has suffocated her son completely “mera baba.. mera baba..” types. She does not want Ashish married to Tara as she is not happy with the family reputation of Jagmohan but is not able to speak before her husband. She is also aware that even Ashish does not want this marriage, but realising the family’s financial debacle, she agrees to the deal.
Ashish Oberoi (Tara’s fiancée): Ashish is the only son of Ranjit and Laxmi oberoi. He is a good-looking-pampered fool. He is not good at anything, though he believes that he is cutest one around. Infact his email ID is cute_ashish@hotmail.com. He spends most of the time in front of the mirror and wants to go to Milan to pursue his interest in fashion designing. He is an absolute non-achiever. His topic of discussions never go beyond himself. He is scared of his father and is a simple guy at heart.
Mr Chowdary: Chowdary is a don-cum-builder and Shashi’s ex-lover. His sole mission in life is to defeat all of Jagmohan’s undertakings. He is the guy who puts Veer and his family in trouble.
