About the Show
One of the longest running and the most popular shows on Sony Entertainment Television, CID has provided the TV viewer with a staple dose of investigative drama over the last seven years. Be it unraveling the mystery of a homicide or prevention of a high-tech bank robbery, CID has done it all. But what about the cases that couldn’t be solved and are gathering dust for years in the files of bureaucracy? What about the criminals still at large who couldn’t be brought to book? This is where ‘CID Special Bureau’ steps in.

‘CID Special Bureau’ is a show about a team of dedicated cops who specialise in solving dormant and unsolved cases using a mix of new age technology and classical investigative wisdom. A ‘spin off’, as the format is known in the West, ‘CID Special Bureau’ offers a different aspect of crime and investigation to the viewers of ‘CID’ who have been craving for more of their favourite show. The show takes an emotional approach to unsolved cases where the families of the victims are forced to go through the haunting agony of losing there loved ones and not getting justice. The ‘Special Bureau’ team takes on the uphill task of digging through the layers of time and reach the core of the crimes.
Working closely with the CID team under the aegis of ACP Pradyuman(Played by Shivaji Satam), ‘CID special Bureau’ consists of seven officers from different functions and disciplines within the department. Their areas of expertise range from advanced forensic techniques such as ballistics, DNA testing, Carbon dating etc. to graphology and clinical psychology. The fact that they come from different backgrounds enables them to complement each others’ strengths in a unique way.
Coming from the makers of ‘CID’ and ‘Aahat’, this biweekly show approaches the genre of investigative fiction with a dash of reality and makes a great weekday viewing for the whole family. Visual recreation of a crime as the layers of mystery gradually open in the course of investigation, make the show a class apart from other shows in the genre. The endearing characters remind one of the hugely popular CID characters who have been household names for the whole nation for more than half a decade… and one belief binds them together…. ‘no case is closed until solved’

Pooja, Suresh’s childhood friend, has a special place for him in her heart. Pooja is so possessive of him that she would not let anyone steal him. Her mother Meenakshi, is a widow and she purely lives for Pooja’s happiness.
Archana hailing from a middle class family joins work at Suresh’s company. Suresh is impressed with Archana’s character and falls in love with her. For Archana, it is her family that is the first priority. Hesitating initially, she rejects his proposal, but soon gives into his demands. Suresh’s attitude towards Archana irritates Pooja.
Meanwhile Sreenivasan and Vadivu are mistaken that Pooja and Suresh are in love. Talking about their marriage with Pooja,, Vadivu is indebted to Meenakshi for her past deeds and thinks that this would be the best way to repay her. When marriage talks between Suresh and Pooja are underway, Suresh grows more attached to Archana.
Shweta, Archana’s sister suffers from a heart ailment. With a retired father, Archana is weighed down by family responsibilities. When love enwraps her life, Archana tries to detach herself from the inimitable feeling, forcing herself to consider the welfare of her family. Pooja, knowing of Suresh’s love for Archana, is now shattered. She stands stubborn and does all that she can to get united with Suresh, but sadly Suresh considers her only as his best friend and nothing more.
Archana, getting swayed by emotional blackmails, Suresh remains strong in his feelings for her. It is Shweta who asks Archana to reconsider Suresh’s proposal. Well, it does take time for Archana to realize that she is sacrificing her dreams and thereby spoiling Suresh’s life too, in the gamble. Various forces work together to get Archana together with Suresh. But what has destiny got in store for them?
Pooja has a lover named Ashok who is madly possessive of her. He is a typical opportunist, for he would spoil one person’s name in front of the other, still getting favours done through them.
Will Pooja just take things lying down, or will she ensure that she ties the knot with her childhood sweetheart, Suresh? On the other hand, will Ashok let Pooja walk out on him?
Soon, Suresh and Ashok team up to stop Suresh’s wedding with Pooja and also Archana’s wedding with Singapore Selvam. So would love win over ego and how would fate twist the lives of these characters, even further?
Vadivu’s daughter, Nandini, who loves Prakash, is not in anyway near her, in status and position. Once Rahul and Raagini were born to the couple, the relationship turned sour and they start living apart. Vadivu plans to get Nandini married to her friend’s son, Kumar. Will Prakash and Nandini get reunited and live the life Rahul and Raagini have dreamt off?

He is the eldest son of Sreenivasan and is loved by all his family members. He is true to himself and never wishes to change himself for the sake of others. Although he knows that he would be antagonizing his family members by getting married to the girl of his dreams, he believes in doing it his way. He has the strength and fortitude to bear all the trials and tribulations that come along his way, and with the help of his life partner, he manages to flash a smile at the end of the day.
Pooja
The only daughter of Meenakshi, the partner of SP Enterprises, and the childhood friend of Suresh. While Pooja considers Suresh more than a friend, Suresh has strictly drawn the line. She meets several challenges in life due to her attitude, but her knowledge and intelligence makes her cope with her predicament in life.
Archana
Hailing from a middle class family, the daughter of Jayaraman and Banumathi, she finds it tough to decide what is best for her. The word sacrifice becomes synonymous with her, as she wishes to forego even her deepest desires for the welfare of her family. Being patient and steadfast, she does achieve several laurels. Archana is the girl next door, to whom, anyone would go asking for help. All her life, she remains independent and is essentially a self-made person.
Ashok
Ashok is Pooja’s lover who is as madly in love with Pooja, just as pooja is in love with Suresh. He has the special knack of turning his enemies into friends and is an opportunist when it comes to handling people. Twisting the truth, he gets people to favour him.
Sreenivasan
The affectionate head of the Ananda Bhavanam family, strict when need be. He tries to strike a balance between the strict rules laid down by his sister Vadivu and the aspirations of other family members. He is a doting father, understanding brother and a generous grandfather.
Ramesh
Suresh’s brother, an engineering graduate, considers family happiness to be his first priority. But, when put in a situation, he refuses to understand the trauma Suresh goes through and remains indifferent. The way he looks at the world changes as per the situation he is placed in and he doesn’t measure himself in the same scale that he uses to measure others.
Nandita
She is Suresh’s sister and the only daughter of Sreenivasan. An intelligent girl pursuing her studies in Bangalore, she eventually falls in love with Ajay. Although shattered by Ajay’s uninterested notions, she takes life as it comes, optimistically.
Vadivu
Vadivu is Sreenivasan’s sister who is dominating by nature. Vadivu’s overwhelming love and concern makes her treat all the family members as the coins on a chessboard. Clashes arise between her and the other family members, but it will take time and experience for her to stop playing the role of a ‘Lady Hitler’. Her near and dear ones, enter her bad books by not listening to her. Her ego over-rules her love. Whether time will teach her to respect the feelings of others, is a million dollar question.
Nandini
Vadivu’s daughter, who falls in love with Prakash and marries him much against the wishes of her mother. Although she had loved Prakash, she finds it difficult to get accustomed with the dire state off affairs at Prakash’s house. Poverty and Vadivu’s advice drives her away from Prakash’s life and she parts ways with him. Only later does Nandini realize that marriage is made of much more solemn things and finds it tough to lead life, alone. Only time will tell whether she will understand Prakash’s love for her.
Prakash
Nandini’s husband and the father of Rahul and Raagini. Prakash ardently loves Nandini and truly adores his children and that is precisely why he takes all kinds of ill treatment meted out to him by Vadivu. Prakash waits patiently to dive home the point to Nandini and never once wishes to let go of his children.
Rahul
Rahul is Nandini and Prakash’s son and Raagini’s twin brother. Rahul is a clever boy who is also the pet of the family. Since his parents are separated, he feels dejected and lonely. Rocky, his pet dog, understands every emotion of his.

Raagini speaks her mind and this gets Vadivu angry. Rocky, the obedient dog would listen only to Rahul and herself. Her favourite pastime is to tease Vadivu.
Rocky
This canine is the four-legged companion of Rahul and Raagini. Along with them, he terrifies Vadivu and thus brings out the lighter side to life.
